From the Globe and Mail...

"Riot police stormed the marble-halled Sorbonne University early Saturday, pushing out some 200 students occupying the historic institution, some for three days, to protest a government jobs plan.

At least 80 helmeted police officers rushed the landmark institution to dislodge students, some holed up in a classroom barricaded behind desks, chairs and debris."

"Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!"

--From the musical Les Miserables

I should be working on my essay, but instead I'm watching a three-part show on PBS called "A Year at Windsor," chronicling the events of a year at Windsor Castle. I've watched it twice already, but I can't not watch. It's such a fascinating show to see all the work that goes into a state dinner or other event at the Castle. They even have a guy paid to go up to the highest tower and change the flag from the Union Flag to the Royal Standard the exact second the Queen's car drives through the castle walls.

I'll probably do some work at some point tonight, though. I tend to write fast.
