Train-related post
May. 10th, 2006 06:18 pmLast night I was lying in bed with the window open. Even though I live in a town of over a hundred thousand people, on a street that's less than a mile from Canada's busiest highway, I could hear freight cars being shunted in a railway yard four miles from my house as if they were only a block away. I could hear the axles sqeak, the diesel engines change gears, the much louder than usual air horns--everything. For a train spotter like me, that's one of the big perks of this town: a busy industrial branch line to the Toyota plant about a mile from my house, and a shunting yard on Canadian Pacific's Toronto-Windsor main line.
You've probably noticed by now that I like trains. I'm probably the only 20-year-old male who still likes Thomas the Tank Engine stories (meaning the original stories, not the made-for-TV versions).
