It's been an interesting day to say the least. We had 2 o'clock tickets for Phantom of the Opera, and my mother got off of work at school at five minutes to 11. Usually we go to Toronto by driving to a mall on the edge of Toronto and taking the subway downtown. However, this morning there was a large amount of snowfall so we weren't sure about how good traffic would be.

We decided to instead go to the suburb of Oakville and take a commuter train in since they travel on the hour in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, I had the idea to go to a different station farther out in Burlington, thinking we could save more driving; the station that I thought was Burlington turned out to be Aldershot, which only gets trains early in the morning and late at night. Since the train in Burlington was going to leave in ten minutes, we had to abandon that idea and find another way to get in.

Instead of going back to the highway and taking the subway from the usual place, we took another highway farther into Toronto and took the subway from the nearest station, which, fortunately, had a large parking lot. We got to the show with five minutes to spare. The Phantom was good, Christine was okay, but Raoul didn't sound right. His voice was too flat.

After the show, we walked about a block south on John Street to Skydome, where my mother hoped to buy baseball tickets for a game in April that my grandparents could go to. Unfortunately, they only book online until the 23rd and their online store is rather complicated and poorly designed so my mother's going to have to call in the order tomorrow at some point.

So, after all that, we finally got a commuter train back to our station (which serves both trains and the subway), drove to a restaurant, ate, and drove home.

We got home, and our pregnant cat isn't here. My father had the bright idea to let her out--five hours ago. We're hoping she found her way home, though we wouldn't mind if she came back so we know what happened to her.

I got an e-mail this morning from my library. It told me that a book I took out had been requested by another user and had to be back by the 27th. This in itself isn't a problem, but I got an e-mail last week saying that I had to have it back by today, so I returned it yesterday. My online account still says that I have the book out.

All in all, a rather interesting day. On the other hand, it's keeping us flexible and young. It's the people who follow the same routine day in day out that one day take a rifle into their office and gun down half their coworkers.
