Oct. 11th, 2007 02:00 pmWell, it appears that the people of Ontario were colouring with a red crayon yesterday, as the Liberals were elected to power for the second time in a row (first time that's happened in nearly a century).
I don't question their victory, but I do have a quibble with the Premier's first act in his next term. He wishes to create another statutory holiday, this one on the third Monday in February. This is not a problem in and of itself, but I have to question the name of the new holiday.
Family Day.
Is this meant to be another prompt for single people to settle down, get married, and have 2.3 children? As if Valentine's Day wasn't enough? There have GOT to be more significant ideas or people to celebrate with a provincial holiday than this. Granted, most people will just treat it as a free day off, but still, there's got to be a better proposal than this.
In other news, my eyes are starting to notice that my old glasses aren't perfect, either. I'll probably try my new ones again when I get home to see if there's a difference. The sooner I've got the right pair on, the better.
