Page range of 15-20 pages preferred, due tomorrow at 11:30 AM. I just finished at 2:50 AM, with almost nineteen pages typed, double-spaced, numbered, and footnoted to death. And speaking of death, as soon as I finish printing and staple this essay (my longest in my five years at the University of Guelph), I will turn off my computer and lights and crawl into bed to die from exhaustion.

And then tomorrow after class I'll start taking notes for my 3250-word Indian History essay and start the process all over again, because it's more fun that way, dammit!

I have just come home from my last class as a student at the University of Guelph. One more essay and one take-home exam left until I'm finished for good. And I am spent!

For half the trip home, I was driving behind a Pontiac Vibe with one of those ultra-patriotic bumper stickers stating "Out of a job yet? Keep buying foreign. I couldn't help but think about the irony in such a bumper sticker on that car.

The Pontiac Vibe is made in California by an American car company, GM. It has travelled a long way to reach this driver, and likely has quite a few parts in it made outside the US.

My Toyota Corolla, on the other hand, was made in a factory fifteen minutes from my house, one of the largest employers in Cambridge. It has never strayed more than two hundred kilometres in the time I've driven it. In addition, my area is known as a producer of car parts, including parts for Toyota. I myself spent two months one summer making car windows that were immediately loaded on a truck and sent to the factory. Hence, my Toyota is the closest thing possible to buying domestic unless they start mass-producing Bricklins and Gray Dorts again, and the odds of that are slim.

Out of a job yet? Buy American!
