A hair-raising drive home
Aug. 20th, 2009 10:53 pmThis story should get
marbled_genet salivating ;)
I was on my way back when a powerful lightning storm moved in over town. There were several loud thunder-claps and a few streaks of lightning across the sky. However, the biggest one happened when I was standing at a red light. All of a sudden I saw a huge cloud of sparks fly off some telephone wires, followed by a cloud of yellow smoke. As I moved closer into town, the rain got heavier and heavier, to the point that I couldn't see in front of me, even with the wipers on max. I pulled into the parking lot at the library in Galt and went in to sit out the storm. After about half an hour to 45 minutes, it had lightened enough that I could go home safely.
Certainly made for an interesting trip!
