Post-birthday report
Sep. 20th, 2009 01:20 pmHad quite a good birthday yesterday. Didn't do much, but what I did was fun.
First stop after breakfast was the pen store in Galt, where I made good use of the gift certificate I received for my birthday--plus an equal amount of my own money. I got a Faber-Castell Ambition fountain pen, three bottles of ink (Noodlers Luxury Blue, Hunter Green, and Red), and an interesting addition to my collection: a glass dip pen. This will be useful in combination with the green and red inks when writing Christmas cards. I was also able to pick up my repaired Sheaffer, which I only brought in to be repaired in the middle of the week. A company rep was in their shop and brought a replacement barrel with him.
After that came dinner at Mandarin, the big Chinese/Western buffet restaurant in town. I put a fairly good dent in their profits for the day, which may be a surprise to those of you who have met me and my scrawny build. Met my eighth-grade teacher and his wife while there, which was nice. Hard to believe I was in his class eleven years ago!
To close this post, I'd like to send birthday wishes out to
fer_lomarcan and
eviljimchristo who celebrate their birthdays today!
