It's been a strange week...

...particularly for my mother. On Wednesday she banged her foot, hitting three toes and possibly breaking one. She banged it again a day later, which didn't do much for it. However, the high (or low) point was Friday. She looked into the back yard and saw a baby skunk in the steps going into our pool. It was soaked and cold, having been there for most of the night. However, getting it out wasn't easy. Attempts to fish it out with a net were met by the skunk spraying into the pool (thankfully I don't get much use out of it...).

Eventually she put a towel over the corner so it could climb out--and it responded by aiming and firing at her. Didn't spray much, but it left its mark. Took three rinses, one with pool water, one with cat spray neutralizer, and one with skunk neutralizer, but she's de-odourized--a merciful thing since some of it got on her tongue. For future reference, it tastes like hot raw garlic.
