Writer's Block: Heavenly Bodies

[Error: unknown template qotd]

I'd want to use a name from Egyptian mythology; we've used Greece and Rome a lot, but not Egypt to a great extent. Isis sounds like a good name for a planet, and she was described in a section of the Book of the Dead as 'Moon Shining Over the Sea.'

Upon reading your idea, my first thought was someone from Celtic mythology. Then I thought, "Why be so eurocentric? Look up some Asian, African, Amerindian, and Aboriginal gods for ideas."

To name a planet after Yahweh would be too boring.

They've started with Amerindian. One of the dwarf planets discovered a few years ago is named Sedna, after the Inuit goddess of the sea.

With all the planets being discovered, I expect a lot of mythical names are going to be applied to planets. Maybe they could have themes for solar systems and sections of the galaxy.
