Apr. 2nd, 2006 08:06 pmIt's been a relatively quiet weekend. Bought a new mini-television set for my room. My mother wants to use the TV/VCR combo I have in my room for when she goes running on the treadmill, so she gets mine and I get a new one. Not a bad deal. Put the clocks forward like we're supposed to; as a result it is still light out when it should be getting dark. Had a shower today so I could scrape off the latest layer of Canada on my skin; also shaved--my five o'clock shadow was going on nine-thirty.
My father will be going to San Francisco for a business trip in July and invited me along. It was a nice idea, but I can't go because a) I need to work in the summer, b) I'll be going to Washington and Atlanta at the end of August, and I don't think any workplace plans to give me two vacation times, and c) I'm probably going to be attending a wedding that weekend. So, he'll be making the trip solo; a shame, too--it was by train all the way!
Got the whole week to myself again: done all my reading except for seminar work for Friday. Probably just read or walk around like last week. I've got some radio shows to listen to--a three-part adaptation of Persuasion by Jane Austen and the last five parts of a mystery novel called The Mystery of a Hansom Cab that's quite good. In my free time at home I need to get a dust rag out; the dust in my room is starting to organize an army.
I'll be playing hooky for my last class on Friday because my mother and I were invited by my aunt to be on a trivia bowl team in Windsor, where my mother's family lives. Don't know if I'll be on it; if not, I'll just clobber my grandmother at Yahtzee (we play for money!) I'll probably have my hands full on the trip anyway: we might have to bring Pepper with us to make sure she gets her medicine. Don't know yet; we might just stay for one night and give her larger doses on Friday morning and Saturday evening. That will be a real treat if we do have to take her--a fifteen-year-old cat in a car for three hours.
