Someone working for the Boston Globe put together a collection of city photos from Earth Hour. Click on them and all the lights disappear.

The photo of Toronto during Earth Hour could easily be a picture from the late 80s or early 90s--that's how little the skyline has changed (though they're working on it). I do wonder why the lights in the photo of the Acropolis and Coliseum seem to get brighter.

Forget global warming and the environment for a second: doing this every night would save so much energy and money, not to mention stress on our ancient generating stations.
