Had my first of two full Tuesdays off, so I went into Toronto to try to do some shopping. Struck out both times, so I came home. Instead of taking the subway all the way back, I went down to Union Station and got on the Queen's Quay/Spadina Avenue streetcar and rode it up to Spadina subway station. It's a nice trip, especially in the neighbourhood along Queen's Quay with all the recycled warehouses and the condos. Makes me hope that I'll get the National Ballet job because their offices and rehearsal space are down there.
The lake water must have still been in my lungs (metaphorically speaking), because I had an urge to walk by the lake when I got home. So I did! Saw a pair of swans with their new baby going for a swim, and saw what I thought was a big fish in the murky water. When I noticed that it was moving rather fast and had legs, I realized that it wasn't a fish, but a beaver!!! I've lived here all my life and this is the first time I've seen our national animal. Certainly a welcome sight, particularly in the open sewer we call Lake Ontario.
Don't let it get near any Klingons!
