Here we go again...
Feb. 1st, 2010 11:04 pmLooks like the last of the 90s cats is going to be receiving her send-off tomorrow.
Our grand old lady Pepper is in a bad way. She's horribly skinny and hard of hearing and sight as it is. Now, in addition to that and her hyperthyroidism, she has an eye problem and a throat or mouth problem. She hasn't eaten in two days, she's lost her front teeth, she throws up bile with bits of blood, and she drools uncontrollably. Time to let her go, I think.
It's too bad; she would have been with us 18 years in August. She's outlived at least two of her kittens (and probably all four) and four of her former housemates (Buster, Teddy, Oreo, and the absent but not forgotten Tabs). I guess she was holding out long enough to outlive them.
On the positive side, things should start to calm down here. Max, Nibs, Oscar, and TigerLily have all been taking turns thumping her, so with her gone they'll have to go after each other. They already do that, but now they're stuck with each other. TigerLily should stop spraying at least. She was only marking her territory in competition with Pepper; now she's queen of the heap.
Still, three cats since November. Not a good stretch of luck. Since TigerLily's the oldest at seven years, it should be a while before the next round approaches.
