And I laughed at my mother when she suggested that a church being closed in Windsor should become a roller skating rink (because of the open space and flat floors):

Andy Burnham, the Culture Secretary, has suggested churches with low attendance could be turned into gyms, restaurants and multi-faith centres.

A gym is one thing. You could make exercise into worship by considering that you're improving your temple for the Holy Spirit.

Restaurants, meanwhile, usually don't serve the most healthful of food. Churches should be pretty selective if they try this. What's more, if they want to feed the poor, they'll have to make it cheap -- without resorting to McDonald's-like junk food.

As for multiple faiths under one roof, I'm sure very few churches would consent.
