It finally happened...

About fifteen years ago, Jerry Seinfeld commented on people who point to their wrist when asking for the time. He went on to describe other places that people could point to when asking questions. Well, today, one of his predictions came true. Some guy actually pointed to his crotch to ask where the bathroom was! It's official: the English-speaking world has forgotten how to speak English.

I worked my first eight-hour shift in months today. You know how they say "I'm going to feel that tomorrow?" Well, I'm getting ahead of myself because I'm feeling it now!

Oh, that's an old one. Typically, though, it's both paws in a covering gesture, and crossed legs with a nervous little hop.

Are you sure that the pointer in question had English as a first language?

It seemed so, but that's not really a factor. I can get customers who speak flawless English ask for a shopping cart by doing a thrusting gesture with their hands that I find rather vulgar. Everyone's equally capable of ignoring their ability to speak.

It's almost as if they think you can't speak english, or, since you work in retail, that you're dumber than dirt. Morons...

Or just like how people don't expect me to know anything about train services, where anything is, tickets and fares, etc. - even though I'm working at a railway station.

Don't ask me, I just work here!

If only that assumption prompted them to go away!
